Automatic sorting -
recycling made easy
SØPL is a contribution to the UN's 13th Sustainable Development Goal
Hazardous waste wrongly ends up in the residual waste bin in almost all households worldwide. The reason being that consumers are often confused as to what, how and where they are supposed to recycle their hazardous waste. The environmental consequences of this are just as comprehensive as they are devastating. Extreme weather events are threatening the world's food supply, driving people from their homes and jeopardize livelihoods. This may lead to increased risk of conflict, hunger and poverty. To combat and reduce such extreme effects, action must be taken now. [Source 1] [Source 2]
Some items are difficult to recycle
Hazardous waste is important to recycle in a specific way, so that it does not harm our environment. Wrongful recycling may lead to chemicals and other dangerous materials contaminating soil, air or water, reinforcing climate change. [Source 3]

Let's make the machine sort the waste for us!
A part of the problem is that people do not know where or how they should recycle hazardous waste. SØPL solve this problem by placing recycling machines where people naturally pass as a part of their day; at the subway station. The machines recognize and identify the waste you deposit - and thus sort the waste for you. [Source 4]
