SØPL is a scalable solution
with a vision for future expansion
SØPL's vision
We have a vision to ensure that all hazardous waste is being recycled properly, and in this way contribute to reduced climate change. This is a massive goal, and in order to reach it - we need the whole society and world on our team. That is why we have a plan to expand and implement SØPL across the globe! Read more about our expansion plans below.
Expansion in Oslo
Initially, our pilot project will be enrolled at only one subway station in Oslo. Namely at Majorstua, which is one of the most visited subway stops in the capital of Norway. However, our goal is to gradually expand and target all 101 subway stops across the city within 3 years. In order for this to happen, we rely on a smooth and cooperative collaboration with Oslo Kommune, as our project demands measures affecting the city's infrastructure and how waste is collected. Expansion within Norway
Depending on the success of our project's expansion in Oslo, we aim for a national expansion within 5 years. Our goal is to take what we have learned from the Oslo expansion and get other municipalities in Norway to implement the SØPL system as well. Then, the system and mobile app must be adjusted to better respond to the population size and density in each specific municipality. For instance, as the subway is limited to the Oslo region only, we need to find other hubs to locate the recycling machines. This may include shopping malls or grocery stores.
Global expansion
If Norway can do it - anyone can! We believe that our idea is scalable beyond Norway's borders. Our long-term goal is therefore a global expansion of SØPL to other countries, starting with Scandinavia and later the rest of Europe - before eventually being represented across the globe.
Waste collection infrastructure
Most big cities in developed countries have an infrastructure and public transportation system similar to Oslo and Norway. We therefore believe that the implementation of SØPL in cities beyond Norway is feasible with some tailored solutions and adjustments. Equally important, we believe the problem SØPL is trying to solve exists in all countries, and that everyone is equally responsible for solving it. The more countries working together against this global issue, the better the outcome. Let's all come together and help our planet!
Cultural engagement
By involving consumers to actively participate in the recycling of hazardous waste, we hope to imprint the idea of recycling into people's everyday life. Our goal is to contribute to make green thinking a part of the Norwegian culture. Hopefully, this will spread to the mentality of bigger corporations as well, motivating them to take similar action. Green thinking is key to succeed in the future, both among consumers and companies. Everyone must take action and do their part in reducing climate change to ensure a viable future.
