Easy and rewarding recycling for everyone

Hazardous waste includes products that can harm animals, humans and the environment if it is not handled in a careful and specific way. But what products fall into this category?

This is something most people struggle to find the answer to. Usually, households use hazardous waste products in their everyday life without even being aware of it. [Source 3]

No wonder why most people either dispose these products into the regular waste bin where it ends up harming our environment, or at best – leave the product laying at home. This is where SØPL comes to the rescue!

The Machine

The beauty of our recycling machine is that it accepts almost all types of typical household hazardous waste, included all the items listed above. The machine is equipped with artificial intelligence technology, making it possible for consumers to deposit their products and let the machine recognize what type of waste it should be sorted as before it deposit the products into the right bin. In cases where the machine is unable to recognize the products, it sorts these into a bin specifically for such unidentified waste.

The recycling machine works as follows

Tap "START" on the screen, and the hatch will unlock.

Deposit your hazardous waste items and close the hatch.

Tap "FINISHED" on the screen, and let the machine do its magic!

Remember to scan your QR-code with the app to collect your points. (Optional step)

Our recycling machines will be available at almost all subway stations in Oslo. First of all, this is somewhere a considerable number of people walk pass during their day. They can therefore easily pick up their hazardous waste on their way out and recycle it as they pass the subway station.

Second, SØPL also see the value of encouraging other sustainable activities, such as taking the subway or bus instead of the car. That is why we have a collaboration with Ruter - the public transportation company in Oslo and Akershus. The App

With every recycled product comes a chance to collect points. Download our free SØPL app and create a profile in order to enable your personal QR-code. After depositing all your hazardous waste products into a SØPL machine, you can scan this code to collect points. These points unlock rewards depending on the number of points you have collected.

An example of a reward includes a free trip on the subway or bus within Oslo. A higher score of points may unlock even higher valued rewards, such a 30-day subway/bus ticket. Our goal is to get additional companies onboard with our project, enabling us to offer a wider range of rewards. We hope that other businesses see the value of contributing to a green initiative such as SØPL.
